In a rival game against Terra Nova, the JV Cougars fell 42-40 in a tightly played contest. With lots of action but not much scoring, HMB once again employed stout team defense and rebounding to finish the first half leading the Tigers 16-13. Amidst sometimes frantic action, the Cougars played well but were held back by making only 1 of 7 short shots and layups in the first quarter. Highlights from the first half were a two possession sequence of driving layup from Kai Guevara and a soaring fast break layup by Noah HIll on a nice feed from Brayden Campbell.
The Cougars played well overall in the second half maintaining defensive energy, but ultimately couldn’t overcome the suddenly deadly 3-point shooting from Terra Nova. The Tigers made 6 treys in the game with 5 coming in the second half compared to just one for Cougars on the last field goal of the game.Guevara had 11 points and Hill tallied 10 points to lead the Cougar scoring. Nohea Sharp and Zeke Syme helped clear the boards, Owen Wooliever dished 5 assists, and Luke Longaker led the world on taking charges. Next game is an away game Tuesday at Jefferson.
