VARSITY AND JV TEAMS DEFEAT WESTMOOR, MOVING TO 4-0 IN LEAGUE

Half Moon Bay Varsity moved to 4-0 in league play and 12-3 overall with a win over host school, Westmoor.  The Cougars extended a 14-9 first quarter advantage to 15 before giving a bit of it back by the half.  Its defense held the Rams scoreless in the 3rd quarter, putting the game out of reach.  Westmoor was held to 26% shooting on the night.  HMB senior guard, Sam Treanor, was the only player in double digits for either side with 11.  His rest of stat line, though, begins to paint the picture of his many other contributions:  4 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocked shots and 8 rebounds.  The Cougars return to play at the CUSD Event Center on Friday night against El Camino.

HMB JV also moved to 4-0 in league play with a win over Westmoor.  In a high intensity, face paced nail biter, Half Moon Bay edged out Westmoor 56-48.  In the first half, Westmoor forced turnovers and scored on fast breaks, but Half Moon Bay took the lead at the half with Sean Kennedy and Ben McKnight attacking the basket.  The second half was almost even, but Half Moon Bay got the advantage with their ball movement.  High scorers for Westmoor were Nico Martinez (12) and Dan Navarro (10).  Sean Kennedy (19 points) and Ben McKnight (13 points) led the Cougars in points.  Sean and Mykola Ediger each scored 8 and led in assists.
