Half Moon Bay faced a strong, fast and physical Jefferson team in the PAL North opener for both teams. It pulled out to a 38 to 19 advantage after three frames as the Cougar defense held the Grizzlies to a 21% field goal percentage. Jefferson found the net more consistently in the fourth frame, though by that time HMB had the game in hand.
Senior guard, Jake Quosig, led the Cougar's defensive effort and complimented this with 2 baskets from beyond the arc, 5 rebounds, a steal and an assist. Ethan Menzies again owned the stat line with a game high 22 points on 10 of 14 from the field, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks, 2 steals and 2 assists. Danny Mack posted another outstanding performance with 5 of 8 from the field and 5 rebounds before leaving in he 4th after an ankle injury. The HMB offense was directed by Sam Treanor, whose 5 of 6 from the line and 12 points went a long way in covering Jefferson's 4th quarter charge. The Cougars return to action Wednesday evening at HMBHS, facing Oceana.
